Fifth Anniversary of the SCO Agricultural Base Initiative: Diplomats from Over 10 Countries Seek Opportunities in Yangling, China

Diplomats from more than ten countries, including Nigeria, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghana, and Cambodia, visited Yangling District, Xianyang City of Shaanxi Province, to explore China's modern agriculture opportunities.

They toured the SCO Modern Agricultural Exchange Center and the Yangling Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park, experiencing the agricultural strength of Yangling and envisioning new opportunities for cooperation.

Since its establishment in 1997, the Yangling demonstration zone has made significant achievements in agricultural science and technology innovation, demonstration and promotion of results, and international cooperation by inheriting farming culture and focusing on dryland agriculture. Yangling has pioneered a path of agricultural modernization driven by technological innovation. To date, it has established close cooperative relationships with more than 60 countries, conducted over 500 international exchange activities, and implemented more than 130 international cooperation projects.

Diplomats Visiting the SCO Modern Agricultural Exchange Center

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the SCO Agricultural Base Initiative. Over the past five years, the base has comprehensively deepened its exchanges and cooperation with SCO countries in areas such as agricultural technology exchange, talent training, demonstration and promotion, and international trade. The base has hosted 163 national foreign-aid training programs, training more than 4,600 agricultural technology and management personnel from over 130 countries. Additionally, it has trained over 300 poverty alleviation experts for SCO countries, established 10 overseas agricultural technology parks, and tested and demonstrated more than 110 high-quality crop varieties and advanced cultivation techniques.

Following the visit, Ninikangwa Olachi Okey-Uche, Minister of the Nigerian Embassy in China, said: "We need Yangling's advanced technology in dryland agriculture, and we also need international cooperation platforms like CAF (China Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Fair). What we have seen and heard in Yangling has met our expectations for this visit."
